Acupuncture - individual  care, shaped around you

No two people come to acupuncture with exactly the same story.

I take time to understand your health, your symptoms and what is happening for you as a whole. Treatment is then tailored to your individual needs and adapted as things change.

My approach combines Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element acupuncture with specialist postgraduate training in fertility and reproductive health, bringing together traditional acupuncture with a modern understanding of health.

Menstrual Health

Periods, perimenopause & menopause

Acupuncture treatment is tailored to your individual cycle, symptoms and stage of life.

I take into account your menstrual and hormonal history, general health and any relevant medical investigations when considering how best to approach treatment.

Fertility

Female & male fertility

I work with individuals and couples trying to conceive naturally, as well as those preparing for or undergoing fertility treatment.

Treatment is tailored to your individual fertility picture and can be provided alongside medical investigation, IVF, ICSI or other fertility treatment.

Psycho-emotional wellbeing

Supporting the person, not just the symptoms

Physical health and emotional wellbeing don't exist separately.

Stress, difficult experiences and periods of uncertainty can become an important part of the overall health picture.

I take the psycho-emotional side of health into account as part of acupuncture treatment, particularly when it is a relevant part of what is happening for you.

How It Works

1

Understanding the picture

Your first appointment gives us time to look properly at what is happening for you.

We'll talk through your health and symptoms, relevant medical history and any investigations or results you already have. If fertility is part of the picture, we'll also consider your reproductive history, cycle, previous treatment and your partner's fertility where relevant.

Please share any recent results or reports that may be useful.

2

Delving deeper

Sometimes the information we already have is enough. At other times, looking more closely may help us understand the picture better.

Depending on your individual history, this might mean considering whether further investigation could be useful, for example, looking more closely at thyroid or metabolic health, inflammation, infection, the reproductive microbiome, relevant viral screening, or more detailed male fertility testing such as sperm DNA fragmentation.

These aren't tests I recommend routinely, and not everyone needs further investigation.

3

Your personalised plan

Once we have a clearer understanding of the picture, we can decide what your care should focus on.

Acupuncture treatment is tailored to you and adapted as things change. Depending on what is appropriate, I may also use techniques such as electroacupuncture, cupping or gua sha as part of treatment.

Where relevant, your plan may also include practical recommendations, areas to discuss with your fertility clinic or GP, or referral to another professional for investigation or support outside my scope.

A note on fertility treatment

When you're trying to conceive as a couple, I strongly advise that both partners attend the first appointment.

Fertility involves both of you, and I want to understand both sides of the picture, including your individual health and fertility histories, any investigations or results, and anything that may be relevant to your plans for trying naturally or undergoing fertility treatment.

It is also important to me that both partners are involved in and on board with the process.

This doesn't mean that you will both necessarily need treatment, but it does mean that we can start from a shared understanding of the fertility picture and decide together where our attention may be most useful.

Ready to book?

Whether you're coming for fertility support, menstrual or reproductive health, or acupuncture as part of your wider wellbeing, the first appointment gives us time to understand what is happening for you and decide how best to approach your care.

You don't need to know exactly what you need before you come. We can work that out together.

Please note that Wimpole Street appointments are booked via the clinic’s own system, with different session durations and pricing.
